These were only made for a few years in the late 60's (mostly '66-68). Lots of new disposable things were on the market for the first time, so people were really into stuff you could just use and toss. The fad started as an advertisement, some products would have you send a couple of bucks in and they'd send you a logo-printed paper dress, and some product coupons. It's not true 'paper', many were made with bonded cellulose or viscose, this one is "Reemay" spunbonded polyester. It feels like a dry baby wipe, or a non-greasy dryer sheet.
This style is SUPER RARE, because although you see the shift dresses here and there, you almost never find a romper. And this one was deadstock in the package when it came to me, I only opened it to photograph and take measurements. You just step in, and tie it up the front. It's a loose, straight cut, but comes with a matching tie belt. It's semi-sheer. The colors look very bright when folded, but more muted when you have it on, because of the sheerness. The package has this tagged as a M, fits me fine as a modern 4/6. Even the rise is OK for me, I usually have a hard time finding rompers that fit me lengthwise. 38.5/38/42", since this is a thin fabric, it's best if this is worn loose. Total length shoulder to hem is 36.75", shoulder to crotch center is 33", and the inseam from there is 6". Groovy piece of history, a real collector's piece!
