Vintage hot Murano Sommerso Blue & Amber Hand Blown Glass Coquille-shape Sculptural Bowl with Rolled Ends 10.5 in W - Venetian Italian Art Glass

hot This is a superb, high quality Elegant Murano Sommerso two tone Blue and Gold Amber transparent hand blown organic glass bowl / dish with a Coquille-shape - Rolled Ends and a weighted base. Rather like a sea shell like a Conch or Clam, hence Coquille, which is French for shell. Predominantly blue, the gold / amber coloured glass is concentrated around the base. At either end of the oval shaped Mid Century Vintage bowl, the glass has been curled and rolled up.

The stunning Murano sculptural glass bowl appears to be different colours in different lights – often purple – and would make a fabulous centrepiece or grouped together with other art Glass pieces.

The hand blown cased glass really is beautiful - the Blue and Gold colours radiate through the bowl and it would look amazing situated in the sunlight as light is intensified as it passes through the thick glass sides, creating wonderful vibrant reflections.

The pontil is polished. There are no identifying marks but this is a bowl of quality and undoubtedly by a quality glass maker, possibly by Murano Sommerso glass makers Barovier and Toso.

The vintage Coquille glass shaped bowl feels very heavy at 1656 g (3 lb 10.4 oz). The blue and gold blown glass bowl measures approx. 26 cm (10 1/2 in) long and 16 cm (6 in) wide at the widest. It is 8 cm (3 in) high at its highest point.

The bowl is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks or chips. There is light scratching on the base as would be expected of a dish of this age. There may be wear consistent with normal use as this is a preloved item.
