Sterling Vitreous Enamel Pendant with Hand hot Formed Chain

This sterling silver (.925) pendant features a handmade vitreous enamel faux gemstone. The faux gemstone is several layers of vitreous enamel (glass) kiln fired over a domed copper disc. The multi-layers and multi-color give it a gemstone-like appearance. Please note that it is NOT a gemstone. These are fun to make because I can vary the colors, size and shape to whatever I like. Each "gemstone" I make is unique because the enamel will not melt and fuse the same way twice due to temperature and other variables. Pendant is lightly oxidized to bring out the textures and shapes.

Settings: The faux enamel gemstone is double set for a unique look. The inner bezel is scalloped fine silver backed by sterling silver. Its then mounted with prongs inside a circular forged frame with a generous sized bail. The frame is embellished with a 4mm round precision cut Austrian clear crystal in a sterling tube setting.

Both pendant and chain are fabricated by hand. Stamped with my maker's mark and ".925." All links in the chain are made individually and soldered closed. The clasp is a commercially make sterling lobster clasp soldered to the chain for security. You can wear the chain by itself or use it for other pendants.

Chain length is 29 3/4 inches laid flat end to end including the clasp. Pendant is 1 1/4 inches across including the prongs that protrude from the side (if you don't include the prongs--slightly less than 1 1/4 inches). Pendant height is slightly over 1 3/4 inches (about 46 mm) including the bail and cubic zirconia hot setting. The lobster clasp is 7 mm across and 10 mm long.

Clean the pendant and chain with a treated jewelry cloth. The faux enamel gemstone can be wiped with a plain soft cloth if necessary
