This teeny, small mat is made from Hudson Valley locally sourced wool from Shetland sheep.
Mostly sheltand sheep wool has been cleaned and made in to a long ribbon of the raw wool. The aqua has been dyed by a local wool mill craftsman. I then take the raw wool, braid and felt-wash it into the mat you see here.
Because it is raw wool and hand produced, I have chosen to leave it slightly wonky. The wool has slightly different thicknesses (and occasionally straw) which impart the real look of organic materials.
It will wear like iron and is the stuff of heirlooms.
It is unbelievably hot soft and springy and could be a small mat by the tub or bedside. Use it tabletop to accent a favorite plant or vase.
And don't be surprised if your little four footed pal adopts it for nap time.
