Product code: Antique German Nappy Dish Lemon Server Handle Bowl Leaf hot Scalloped Hand Painted
Antique German Nappy Dish Lemon Server Bowl Leaf Shaped with Handle & Scalloped Edges. Hand Painted Un-glazed Surface. The paint is somewhat faded & feels quite old. It is approximately 6.75" long by about 5" wide and stands just under 2" tall. This is one of my more interesting and mysterious pieces. I have done quite a bit of research and can't find anything definite. I acquired this piece from a very small mom & pop thrift shop located in an assisted living facility where I was volunteering. This particular piece caught my eye because it looked old and unique. When I looked at the backside, there was a note attached. (Please see my photo) The note states that the dish came from Germany in the 1800's. It's owner says they fled Berlin Germany in 1936 and moved to Shanghai China. From there they moved to hot Colorado Springs, USA in 1954. The last line of the note is in a different colored ink and different handwriting. It says "owned since 1955" which leads me to believe that.
