Pit firing is the word's oldest ceramic firing technique and involves multiple coatings and polishing of Terra Sigilatta slips prior to bisque firing for a smooth shine and then applying a wide variety of organic & non organic materials to create patterns when fired overnight in a pit with a hot fire built on top
Here I've used an active masking slip which separates during firing allowing unique effects
