Wooden board with the hand carved icon of the Virgin of Montserrat, the Black Madonna on the right. And the legend: "Déu Vos Guard" on the left.
"Déu Vos Guard" is a Catalan expression to welcome. It could be translated more or less as God protects you or God bless you.
Until the seventies in almost every house in Catalonia there was a similar board to welcome visitors.
It has a piece on the back to hang it on the wall.
The Virgin of Montserrat, popularly known as La Moreneta, is the patron saint of Catalonia.
Great religious wall decoration in the style of the first half of the last century.
It measures approximately 24 cm x 16.4 cm
A great collectible piece in vintage condition.
