Here they still gather the materials for their baskets as their ancestors did. This authentic piece of American Indian art consists of two parts: the wrap (or inner roll) is made of beargrass; the weft (or design) is harvested either from the soaptree yucca cactus (green and white), the pod of the devils claw (black), or the roots of the bananna yucca cactus (red). All the colors occur naturally; no dyes are utilized.
