Sea Creature hot

This somewhat different piece is 11" tall with the shell on top, and approximately 6" wide. First the gourd was dyed with leather dye, then cut open and the holes were drilled for the warp. I cut 5 'windows' within which each has a different weaving design. The top and bottom were also cut open. After weaving in each of the spaces, I attached a sea urchin shell to the top space and added waxed linen "tentacles" and beads dangling down from the shell. It is a visual and tactile piece, focusing on the weaving and shell to give a sea creature fantasy feel. hot
