The book is an accumulation of articles written and distributed among church members by Pratt. Some articles were controversial within the church because it s practicing polygamy at the time and the church was promoting it. The article "Christian Polygamy and the 16rh century in the book is one of his statements decrying polygamy. When his wife was approached by Joseph Smith founder of the Mormon church about becoming polygamist, Pratt spoke out strongly against polygamy and was ex-communicated from the church by Joseph Smith, but was later reinstated.This is an unusual book.
