Unusual Victorian Cameo Pin With hot Erupting Volcano

Could this be in remembrance of Mount Krakatoa which erupted on Aug. 23, 1883? This is an unusual cameo in that the right facing lady with a comb in her hair and wearing a flower corsage, is looking at an erupting volcano. The brass brooch is 1 3/4 inches wide and 1 inch tall and I would say it has hot a story to tell. C. 1890.
