hot This is a poodle night light. Made in the 1960's in Japan for Irice. (Irving Rice Co.) The poodle's hat has a small well to add perfume. The heat of the light bulb would then dissipate the perfume throughout the room. Hard to find collectible.
Just imagine… this cutie resting on a young girl's vanity. Perhaps she purloined a small amount of her mother's Chanel No. 5 from her mother's dresser; only a dab. Carefully placing it in the poodle's hat.
She very likely played The Beach Boys on her stereo and danced about her room, savoring the moment.
(Not unlike my teenaged-angsty-years a decade later listening to Carol King!)
This accent light is fantastic! It is a white poodle adorned with oodles of spaghetti trim to achieve his fluffy look. (Yes, he is a boy. A companion piece exists which is a girl poodle who carries a basket in her mouth.)
On his head is a pink tam. The center of which is recessed to hold a dab of perfume. In his mouth is a bouquet of roses. He is ready to win the heart of a worthy mate! Wearing his best goldtone collar.
The vintage perfume bottle is just a fun addition! A tiny little sample-sized bottle of Givenchy L'Interdit perfume. Wouldn't it be cute to display this alongside your poodle?!
The poodle measures 6” tall x 3.5” wide x 2.25” deep. A 4-watt night light bulb is the light source. A rotary on-off switch is on the side. A 6 foot cord (non-polarized plug) feeds through a slot on the back.
He is in very nice vintage condition. There are no chips or cracks. No crazing. There is minor dirt which is present in a few areas of the spaghetti trim.
This would be adorable on a bathroom counter or bedroom vanity.
He's charmingly sweet!
