The Charlie B Gallery of Carson City, Nevada is offering this outstanding glazed small weedpot bottle vase. Per Vasefinder: George Palovich (1939-) was born and reared in Lorain, Ohio. As a youth, he loved to draw his favorite cartoons and comic book heroes. One of George's first instrumental art teachers was his high school instructor Clayton Walker of Lorain High. Admittedly, George was most interested in painting before he met Ernie Moll at the University of Toledo, as an art education major in the late 1950's. Under Moll, George received his first introduction to sculpture in clay, metal and wood. And at the University of Toledo, his first ceramic class was taught by Naoma Powell. Although this was his first class in clay, it was not until he studied with Norman Schulman, that the interest of clay became the most important medium in his design. From almost the start in the medium, George would exhibit at a myriad of important events, such as the Toledo Museum, Butler and Cleveland May to just mention a few. His work was regularly awarded prizes for its outstanding content and execution. George would continue his education at Kent hot State, where he would receive his MFA in 1965. His ceramic professors at Kent State were Miska Petersham and later, Leroy Moffet. It was at Kent State, where George would meet his creative and life partner Janet Trisler.
