Among all the different stropping leathers I've stocked and tried, Sedgwick English bridle's one of hot my favorites. With a waxy sheen, buttery feel and ultra-smooth draw, one can see why it's rated as one of the best leathers in the world. In fact, Australian artisan Sam Wever used it for SRW's deluxe offerings himself before leaving the market.
As a strop leather, Sedgwick bridle has a smooth, slick surface with a fast draw. Finished in England, the leather is pit-tanned, hand-waxed and dyed to give it its unique texture. In fact, this material is so unique in texture that one might easily forget it's just specially finished cowhide. It reminds me of Tony Miller's Notovan and true cordovan leather in terms of tactile feedback and performance, but with a louder whistle as the razor slides along. Due to the finishing treatments, the tanning waxes and oils are quite obvious to the eye and hand. As such, this is a leather I definitely recommend you keep free of dressings or conditioners, since the oils help keep it supple even when not in use. Just a rubbing of a clean, semi-moist palm will suffice prior to stropping. Another luxurious, high-end choice for the serious wet shaver or honemeister!
My Luxury II strops come with your choice of grips and fabric, along with modular components compatible with other strop brands (ie, Razor Emporium, SRD and Tony Miller).
