We have for sale a uniquely original and whimsical one-of-a-kind hand built and hand painted pottery 'SWIMMER' WALL SCULPTURE by Palm Springs potter and watercolorist David R. Farnsworth. This charming sculpture of a freckled female diver measures 14" in length x 4" wide x 2" deep. This hand made piece of stoneware is an elongated elliptical shape with pointed ends. The swimmers features and hair have been hand built with painted red lips, black lashes and brows and brown hair with highlights. Her swimsuit is individually applied discs with a red glaze, and the water is created with a pointillism style brush painting using dark and light blue and white glaze. The back of the piece has 4 small hole which allows for the sculpture to be hung in many different positions on the wall. This is a very delightful piece of art that is guaranteed to make you smile. It is a perfect decorative piece for a bathroom, childs room, family room or an outdoor patio area. It has an impressed signature on the back. David is a self-taught artist who creates amazing ceramics and whimsical watercolors. His ceramic sculptures and figures are coil and slab built by hand and either high or low fired. Every figure, sculpture or vase is a one-of-a-kind piece. David has been creating works and has been featured in various shows and galleries on the West Coast since 1987. Venues such as the PALM SPRINGS ART COMMISSION SHOW, SILICA STUDIOS, PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM; ACE, STREETBAR ART WALL PROJECT, ART AT HOME SHOW, MEDINA, MARCOS SUPPER CLUB, DARBURY STENDERU GALLERY, J CRIST GALLERY, GALLERIAS (Gallery No. 8), WOODMAN-SHIMKO GALLERY (Palm Springs & Provincetown) and LOCAL COLOR PALM SPRINGS have shown his work. David was also an ornament designer for DIDA LAMPS & ORNAMENTS in Seattle, Washington. His ceramics and watercolors can be found in many private collections in France, Canada and across the United States.
