Mokume Gane and Silver hot Drop Earrings - handmade, japanese, metalwork, wood grain, waterdrop

These elegant drop earrings combine metals to create fluid patterns in the metal. Mokume Gane is a Japanese technique of layering multiple metals, fusing, carving and forming metal to create ‘wood grain metal'. The patina brings out the delicate contrast between metals. The drops are backed with Sterling Silver and are oxidised to complement the Mokume Gane.

As each piece of Mokume Gane is individually carved by me, no two pieces are the same. For earrings this means the patterning will complement but not mirror each other. Where other items are referenced as a combination suggestion, they are from the one piece of metal.

As some people may have a skin reaction to copper and brass, each piece has been backed with a layer of Sterling Silver and only Sterling Silver earwires are used to minimise direct contact.

General Care:
This is a handmade piece of jewellery that is designed for regular wear but not harsh treatment such as immersion in spas and hot swimming pools, while using harsh chemicals or handling rough materials.

This item has a surface treatment to develop the patina (colouration of metal). Do not use a regular jewellery polishing cloth or tarnish remover as this will also remove the patina.
