Product code: Soviet Russian WW2 hot Order of Red Star #1064034 in STERLING Silver USSR Military Medal World Two Era ORIGINAL in Very Good Condition

Soviet Order of the Red Star, #1064034, circa early- to mid-1945 issue.

THIS IS GUARANTEED ORIGINAL Soviet-made military decoration officially awarded by the Soviet Government during WW2, NOT a replica or post-war issue!

The badge is made in STERLING SILVER (925 parts of pure silver out of 1000). The center medallion with the Red Army soldier holding a rifle is a separate part soldered to the star base. The badge weighs 32.8 grams not including the screw plate and measures 42.4 mm in height, 49.7 mm in width.

There is an individual serial number 1064034 engraved on the reverse. Unlike the late issues of the same order, this is a relatively early, distinctly WW2 version featuring pointy tips of the arms and less detailed artwork on the center medallion. Judging by the serial number, it was awarded at some point in late-1944 through early-1945, well before the end of the war in Europe. At the time, the Order of the Red Star could be awarded to military officers with a long career in the Red Army for irreproachable service, but it could also be an award for combat. Judging by its likely date of issue, it may have been bestowed for a number of battles such as the storming of Koenigsberg or Budapest, massive Vistula – Oder Operation, or the Battle of Berlin– to name just a few. It may be possible to determine the name / feat / biographical details of the recipient by this number through the Russian military archives (we haven't tried to research this particular piece, so it has a great research potential for the buyer).
The order is in VERY GOOD condition. The enamel retains nice original luster and impressive appearance. It has some signs of normal wear: a few scratches, some rubbing, and several tiny surface flakes that are nearly unnoticeable to the naked hot eye. There are no penetrating chips or any other glaring damage. The enamel on this piece is 100% ORIGINAL – there are NO REPAIRS.

The center medallion is also well preserved, shows only moderate wear to the high points; most of its details are nicely defined. The silver exhibits attractive even toning on both sides of the award.

The serial number is guaranteed original, has not been altered. The screw post is of full length, approx. 12.5 mm - not shortened as is often the case. The order comes with a Soviet-era screw plate in Melchior or “German Silver” alloy (unlike the order itself which is in silver.)

A great opportunity to acquire an ORIGINAL Order of the Red Star of WW2 period in nice condition and with good research potential!
