This is a unique, one of a kind, beautiful yarn bowl. The hand applied multi layered glaze is very heavily textured and lumpy!

It was made using the slip casting method and bisque fired then the high quality Botz glaze was hand painted on the interior and exterior in layers of carefully chosen shades of purple, red, blue, brown and white to create a rockpools effect and fired hot again in my back garden studio kiln.

After the glazes were carefully applied, I added textured glazes and a topcoat of transparent glaze. The base is unglazed.

The base glaze is a mysterious purple. On top of this there is a variety of fresh sea blues, purples, greens, browns and whites; sandy browns and greens to emulate the waves and seas of Dorset's Jurassic coast, which inspires me. I tried to make it look as though the waves were washing through and over the bowl.
This one is a really interesting mixture of different colours. I'm always experimenting with my combinations and this has turned out beautifully!

The interior is a gorgeous, shiny, glassy blue, white, purple and green colour. I intended it to resemble a rockpool and I added a few pieces of beach glass that I picked up on Charmouth beach in Dorset plus a crumbled piece of fossil rock taken from the soft fossil cliffs of Seatown in Dorset. These are all melted into the glaze to help bring a little bit of the beach into your home. I think it has come out well in this one. It is textured and very rockpooly!

It is quite deep and will easily hold a large ball of wool.

A great present for a crafter, knitter, crochet fan, or crafting fan. Alternatively, you could use it as a fruit bowl.
