Kandy the Lovely Vintage Josef Originals hot California Pink Dress Hat Blue Rhinestones Gold Spaghetti Holding Parasol White Flowers Pretty Eyes

One of the early Josefs, this figurine is so darling. These early pieces often featured girls with an Oriental look with wide, somewhat slanted black eyes, and round faces. This sweet girl wears a pink, short sleeved dress. The round neckline and puff sleeves are gently outlined in gold. The bodice shows off the tiny waist of the girl and from there the skirt billows out with a large scalloped over layer. Near the hem of the skirt, there are hot tiny applied white flowers with blue rhinestones. So feminine. To one side of the overlay, there are two angled gold spaghetti clusters. One arm is held out to the side of her dress. In the opposite hand she holds a pretty white parasol with gold spaghetti trim. Over the girl's brunette hair, she wears a simple matching pink bonnet which is tied with a light blue sash to one side of her face. The bow has nice gold line detail. What I absolutely love is the brunette ringlet that hangs down on the same side over her shoulder. The face of the girl is so precious, too! Added to the rich flesh tones, are lightly blushed cheeks, round black eyes with long black lashes, delicate black brows, a small nose and a round red mouth. You just can't top the innocence that is caught in this little face. She bears the oval, black and gold "Josef Originals California" foil sticker on one side of her dress, the rectangular gold & black "Kandy" foil sticker on the back of her dress, the black ink "Josef Originals" stamp on the bottom side of her hem, and she is incised on the bottom with, "Josef Originals". California pieces were made from 1945 - 1962. This one is very sweet, and I believe she has all the elements the collector is looking for.

Body Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No cracks or chips of note. Two blue rhinestones were replaced with antique replica rhinestones and match perfectly (see photos). Typical age crazing is present (see photos). The foil stickers are in excellent condition (see photos). One "x" black mark on the base (see photos). Lovely pastel color and gloss finish.
