It is 1 1/4" deep - 1 1/2" deep with lid on. I used sparkling rhinestones and accented with a large gold tone brooch and a delicate rose brooch with pink hot teardrop shape rhinestone. This would look stunning on a dresser or vanity and what a great gift idea as well for Valentines day, birthday or housewarming.***I package very carefully however in the rare event that something arrives damaged, please take detailed photos of the item in the box, all the packaging materials ( paper and bubble), the condition of the carton and the damaged item showing the damage in detail.
