I love the ideas of encyclopedias. I always have. I mean, how cool would it be to read just a single set of books (albeit rather large books) and know everything of importance that there is to know in the world?
I read encyclopedias when I was a young child with this very thought in mind. It didn't last for long. Not the habit of reading encyclopedias. But the belief that such an act would make me all-knowing. I remember realizing that even as I was reading a science encyclopedia more things were being discovered right at that very moment. I was very conflicted. Excellent for new discoveries and knowledge! Hurray for the expansion of truth! But I'm already behind! Stop the world!
I leave you to draw your own conclusions about why such memories have surfaced at this particular moment.
