The Land of Felt gets a puppy!

At first I thought I must have been dreaming because it woke me up- but then I heard it again; very soft and faint, but definitely a little cry. I hadn't dreamt it. When I heard it again I decided I'd better go out and see who belonged to that high-pitched, yet soft, cry~ almost like the little cries of a new puppy~ That's it! It sounded like the cry of a puppy! Could it be that The Land of Felt was actually getting a puppy? I was excited! I'd love to have a puppy join us!

I walked quickly, following the direction of the irregular high-pitched cries which sometimes stopped altogether. Each time I stopped to listen I could tell I was getting closer. I'd just stopped to listen and look around. Suddenly, what I'd thought was a rock at the base of a redwood tree, moved! Then it cried- the same high-pitched cries that I'd been following since I woke-up! It sat-up, stretched, and yawned a huge yawn that almost hid the little face behind it. As he closed his mouth, he saw me standing there and curled back into a tiny fur ball . I walked over to him and could see that he was shaking. “Don't be afraid,” I said. “I just want to be your friend. I heard you crying and thought you might need a friend-“ He looked up at me from his curled up position and I could see he was indeed, just a baby. I sat down next to him and pet him gently until he relaxed. He let me pick him up and seemed happy to be in my arms! I told him all about The Land of Felt and of the critters who have come to live there and asked if he'd like to meet them. I saw his tail wag a bit and assumed his answer was “Yes!” I stood up with the little pup in my hands- Yes, he was that small! I realized that he would fit very easily into the pocket of my gardening smock which I'd thrown on over my clothes. I told him I was going to give him a ride home. He was going to take the “Pocket Express!” He seemed to really enjoy the ride. I could just see his eyes peering out from behind the top of my pocket as he bobbed up and down with each step that I took. I even heard a little high-pitched giggle when I jumped over a tiny stream. Already I loved the little guy. It was going to be great to have a puppy join The Land of Felt! I couldn't wait to get him home to meet the other critters there. Almost as if he were reading my mind, another short, high-pitched giggle interrupted my thoughts~ When I heard him, I knew what I was going to call him! I gave him a little pat on the head and told him that I'd decided what his name would be. He looked up at me and I said, “Piccolo! You're my little Piccolo!” He couldn't have known what I meant, but he must have liked the sound of it, because I heard another high-pitched giggle erupt from my pocket! Come with me while I introduce him to the other critters in The Land of Felt and you too can meet Piccolo!!!

Measured from his seated position to the top of his ear, Piccolo measures approximately 3 3/4” tall. I've designed and chosen colors to have him resemble a Yorkshire terrier. His legs are wired so that they may be gently positioned to balance him and permit him to sit alone. His eyes are two tiny glass beads sewn to his face with stitches that run through his head several times. Around his neck he wears a pretty, soft-green- colored satin ribbon tied in a bow.

****** Please note that while a child will enjoy looking at Piccolo he is too fragile to be handled as a toy and in fact, does best if handled by an adult, only when necessary. Needle felted critters aren't intended to be a child's play toy; however if placed on a shelf out of a child's reach, they make an adorable addition to a child's room decor- or the decor of any room. They also make an excellent addition to anyone's collection ~ or they look wonderful in the spotlight alone! Meant to be looked at and loved, they're intended to bring warmth and good cheer to your home!
