This item has been plugged in and the motor turns on inside and the light under the green button lights up. I do not own a train set to see if it works with the train but all signs show that this Trainmaster Transformer works.

The green button that covers the light comes off, you can glue it on but I'm not sure how you would replace the light if you glue the cover on.

The light bulb works and this item comes with the original box.
