Lighter weight Solid Ipe hot Bo Staff 72" 1" Exotic Heavy Wood for Martial arts training

This is a handmade solid Ipe Bo Staff. Ipe is very hard exotic heavy wood. The Bo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style hot martial arts. The length of this bo staff is 72" which is a full size bo sfaff. Its diameter is 1 inch through out its length.

Ipe is twice as hard as common American Hickory. It is one of the hardest woods in the world. It has an amazing smooth sturdy feel. It has a beautiful heavy dark brown color.

*Ipe consists of 15 species of trees and most are very heavy. Occassionally I come across wood that is lighter then average ipe. These particular staffs are made from a lighter variety of ipe, both in weight and color then my normal staffs. Still being much heavier then any domestic wood, Their weight is 2 lbs or less which is still a good weight and comparable to most average hardwoods but light for ipe. They often are of a lighter shade of brown and some have unique markings on them. I have noticed that this ipe variety is more brittle then my regular wood and therefore I do not recommend these staffs for any contact whatsoever. It would be perfect for someone who wants a beautiful natural dark colored staff for solo use. I do not always have these available.

It is sanded smooth and finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which gives it a permanent shine and protective layer while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
