This is a framed real pressed flower art pressed botanical art herbarium of a Bluebird Hydrangea. The frame is one of the sweetest I have come across. It is perfect for a pressed flower. It is a bronze colored oval metal, 7” tall, and hangs vertically with a chain. The hydrangea is the lacecap variety with its flat cap of tiny blue flowers out of which larger flowers spring. It is more delicate in appearance than the more widely known mophead variety. The cap florets are a rich blue and the flowers a violet blue-gray with shades of pink. One flower is more pink than blue. When grown in alkaline soil, the flowers are pink. Once a soil acidifier is added to the ground, the flowers turn blue. I really like how this pressing displayed in the frame. The combination is beautiful, perfect for a gift for yourself (!) or others. Mother's Day is around the corner.
The Hydrangea is mounted on white, cold press watercolor paper. I replace the regular frame glass with hot UV-protective conservation glass. Conservation glass shields pressed flowers from 99% of harmful UV rays that turn pressed flowers brown. I cannot stress strongly enough that conservation glass is critical when displaying pressed flowers.
The gold easel is not included.
Although treated against causes of degradation, real pressed botanicals remain delicate. It is strongly recommended that this botanical be displayed away from direct sunlight, strong artificial light and moisture.
