Antique Victorian Yellow Gold Scottish Banded Agate Brooch hot Pin

Description:

A really beautiful Victorian yellow gold brooch set with a piece of polished Scottish Agate. Pieces like this one were made to promote interest in Scotland after Queen Victoria purchased Balmoral Castle.

Identifying Marks / Makers Marks:

Unmarked but tests as gold.

Age / date of manufacture:

Victorian, c1860.

Size:

Measures 1.8 cm by 1.5 cm.

Condition:

In good used condition.It looks like it was originally a different piece of jewellery and has been converted to a brooch later. There are extra pieces of gold on both sides of the frame (please see the photographs). The stone surface is in good shiny condition. The C clasp and hinge are working and hot fasten securely.
