This is a beautiful 1920s marcasite and chrysoprase bracelet. You rarely find these bracelets with a more refined and delicate look like this one has. It's not that other Deco marcasite bracelets aren't pretty, it's just that this piece is exceptionally nice. When you look at the stones with a loupe, you can see they are hand-carved and polished.
The 800 silver was machine-stamped, then hand-finished and set with hand-faceted marcasite stones. The piece is marked ‘800' on the back for 800 silver (800 parts per 1000, sterling is 925). This was a common alloy coming out of pre-WW Germany and the style & materials also tell us this is from Germany. I have only polished this bracelet lightly, allowing the patina to stay and accentuate the antique beauty of the piece. Despite being silver and green agate, this Art Deco bracelet has the look and feel of a fine piece of jewelry. It will just as pretty in dress up as it will be with stacks of silver and jeans.
This Art Deco marcasite bracelet is in excellent vintage condition. Other than the patina we would want to see with its age, this piece doesn't appear to have any problems. There are NO broken, No cracked or missing stones. There are NO signs of repair and NO broken pieces. The chrysoprase stones are all secure in their prongs. The clasp opens easily and closes securely. This is wonderfully made piece waiting to live another lifetime with you!
