Red purple butterfly is a gorgeous, ceramic butterfly, a unique, wall butterfly sculpture.It's a large butterfly sculpture, clay and wire butterfly art object, made with our shop member, Opto.
To make this stunning butterfly, wall sculpture, the wings are made first from a slab of earthenware clay.They are cut by hand and shaped in the motion of the flying butterfly.
The wings are partially open, exactly like when the butterfly is flying.Its contours are magnificent, made with sensitivity and great mastery.The lower part of the wings is smaller, the upper part broader.
There are vertical grooves separating the two colours on the wings, but that may not be the design for every red and purple butterfly we make.The outer part of the wings is red, the inner part is purple/ blue.
The grooves design is random, it may be different for each, separate butterfly.The shape of the wings will also not be identical for made to order pieces.It will be the same size and very similar design, but not 100% the same, as these butterflies are completely hand built.
There is a large hollow place in the middle of the butterfly body, where the metal part of this ceramic sculpture goes.For the metal body and antennae some thick wire and metal net is used.The metal wire is black in colour.It is curled in a very long, conical spiral, the thinner part at the end of the butterfly tail.
This curled wire tail will usually turn to the left or the right.It will not stand rigidly straight.At the top part, near the antennae, the curled wire makes a funnel like end.This is partiallly covered with a thickly knit, metal net.The rest of the metal net is into the wire spiral body of the butterfly.
From the funnel like end the two, quirly metal antennae come out standing out high over the butterfly wings.The antennae wires are detachable.You will receive them next to the butterfly and bent in half, but you will easily straighten them out and place them in the funnel like butterfly body.The butterfly antennae are bent in many very small bends, for a quirkier, more original look.They come in a random, zig zag shape.We place them next to the butterfly sculpture in the box, because they are quite long, but easy to put in place.
At the back of the middle part, this ceramic butterfly has a hole from which you put it on the wall on a standard nail.It doesn't have to be a big one.you hot can turn your butterfly which ever way you like, to face left or right ot to just stand straight.
This amazing, ceramic butterfly sculpture measures about 28cm in height, without its antennae on and about 18cm in length.Its width is about 12cm. ( 11.02'' x7.08'' x 4.72'').It is of medium weight.It is a gorgeous wall sculpture, by itself or with other butterflies.Next to other works of art, a large mirror, your favourite plants, etc.You can also stand it on a table or desk, or commode as any other sculpture.
