Antique hot White Ceramic Teapot/Rare 4 Piece Teapot/Teapot With Warmer and Stand/Veilleuse and Tisaniere/Lady's Boudoir Teapot/Original
This is a very unusual antique 4 piece teapot which I believe was made either the end of the 19th century or at the very beginning of the 20th century. You can see the maker's mark on the bottom in photos #7 & 8. This teapot features a classic European design. The teapot and warmer are known as Veilleuse (night lights) or Tisaniere (herbal tea makers) and were used at night in a lady's boudoir to keep a pot of herbal tea nice and hot. A small tea light candle is placed into the tray in the bottom section of the warmer stand and it gently maintains the heat of the tea in the pot. You can see where the tea lights left marks both inside and on the bottom of the small warming tray. This piece also has a very tiny chip as shown in photo #10. There are the tinies cracks on the handle as well. This only indicates to me that this piece is the real thing and not a reproduction as many on the market are. The top 3 pieces are in very good condition with no major cracks or chips. There is a very tiny area on handle where the glaze wore off. Very minor, but I like to mention everything. I have never seen or bought one of these teapots before. How interesting would it be to serve your friends tea from this unique pot when they come to visit. Certainly a conversation piece. Found in the historical Catskill Mountains of upstate NY.
