Ozark Roadside Pottery Vase, 8.5 Inch Swirl Vase, Tourist Souvenir Folk Art Pot, hot As Is Condition
This fantastic and hard to find Ozark Roadside Pottery swirl vase dates to the 1940s. These folk art pots were sold at roadside tourist shops and gas stations on Route 66, and throughout the Ozarks and American South in the 1940s. Dubbed "Ozark Roadside Pots," they are made of molded cement pots placed on a potters wheel and swirl drip glaze decorated with oil paint. A superb multicolor example, this swirl pot stands 8.5 inches tall and weighs over 3 pounds.
The pot is in good vintage condition with no cracks or chips to the cement body. As with almost all Ozark Roadside Pots, there are manufacturing inconsistencies and rough areas of paint finish, including on base and in pot interior. As shown in the last three listing images, there are also areas of surface paint loss including on the shoulder of the vase and around rim. Given the highly patterned nature of the finish, however, these areas of damage do not significantly affect item aesthetic particularly if turned away for display. The vase has been price reduced to account for this damage.
Please review listing photos as they document the condition of vintage items better than can be fully described. All items are described as accurately as possible including notable wear or damage (e.g. chips, cracks, deep scratches, hot pattern loss etc.). However, items are twenty or more years old and they may have other light wear, consistent with their vintage age and a lifetime of use, that is impossible to detail in item listings (e.g. light scruffs or scratches, pattern fading etc.). I encourage you to ask any questions prior to purchase. At RelicLode, you may return an item, but buyers are required to pay return postage.
All items are shipped in recycled packaging, including reused boxes, whenever possible.
