Gershom was a member of Injalak Arts for many years. A master draftsman, Gershom's designs are known for their fluid lines and finely balanced compositions.

“You might see burarr (Varanus mertensi or water goanna) just sitting there on rocks or logs by the water. When it sees you it just slides into the water and stays there for a while and comesout later. They spend a lot of time in hot the water, eating fish, frogs and insects. Burarr is good eating and Kunwinjku people eat the meat andfat”. Burarr has Djang (ancestral creation) sites in many clan countries. This design captures the swift, supple movements of burarr swimming amongst the leaves of mandem, the water lily. The hatchingon the bodies is called rarrk, and is derived from the linework of rock art, where Kunwinjku people have depicted their world since ancient times.
