After emigrating to the United States from Germany in the 1910 Martin J. Stangl went to work for the Fulper Pottery and then Haeger Pottery before returning to Fulper Pottery and purchased it and all the stock. It was after a fire at the plant in Flemington, New Jersey, Mr. Stangl moved the plant to Trenton, N.J.
Each of these beautiful, life-like Birds are modeled from John J. Audubon's "Birds of America" printed in 1827, and (book)reproduced many time over the years. Each bird is Airbrushed and Hand decorated. The colors are varied depending on how fresh the paint pots were during painting.
I have admired these pottery birds for years and was able to buy my first small collection last winter in Northern California. hot I'm selling this group at about 1/2 an older book prices, so I'll list both prices in the description, the lowest is the actual price, and don't forget free shipping over $35.
