Antique French Souvenir Jewel Casket, Ormolu & Thick Beveled Glass, PARIS MONTMARTRE ca 1900
Fine antique French Belle Epoque era eglomise souvenir jewelry casket in gilt ormolu & thick beveled glass with reverse painted lid and engraving included showing a colorful scene entitled "Basilique du vœu national au S.C. de Jésus MONTMARTRE" (Translated by: Basilica of the National Vow at the S.C. of Jesus MONTMARTRE). Great condition, and great appeal (a very small crack on beveled hot glass and damaged silk cushion).
"Eglomise" is the term applied to the back-painted glass panels in these old French souvenirs.
