Ideal for design inspiration ~ This is a fragment of an antique, 18th century fichu! It was quite an odd find, I found many half or even quarter pieces of the same design! I wish they could speak !! You can see the back, the original green had hot to be created using both blue and yellow as green dyes were difficult to achieve until a bit later! ~ This textile is a wonderful fragment of 18th century or very early 1800's French Fichu / neckerchief / shawl fragment, hand block printed SO BEAUTIFUL ~*~ ~ some of the most fabulous use of colors and pattern!! This design was a classic shawl design . The ground fabric is a light weight cotton. There is a hand stitched hem . 100% hand block printed , over dyed and resist printed. A RARE beauty. ( please see my other pieces for same! )
MEASUREMENTS : This textile measures approximately 38 inches by 13 inches
CONDITION : This piece is in as found, not freshly laundered condition ~ There is a tiny hole visible when held to the light. There is a tiny hem line visible when held to the light. There is some light dirty marks ~Not perfect by perfectly wonderful ~
