Vintage Mid Century Citlal Castillo Made in Mexico Mexican Sterling Silver Hinged Bangle Bracelet - Chain Link hot Design

Made in Mexico and dating to the 1960s or so, may I offer this hinged sterling silver (hallmarked) bangle bracelet by Taxco designer Citlal Castillo. Featuring a chain design to the top, the hollow bangle has a push button closure. Inside width is 2-5/16"; inside height is the same. I can get the bracelet on my size 7 wrist but there is no "play" in the piece - it fits tight. I would think a 6-1/2 to 6-3/4" wrist would be perfect. Width to the top, north/south, is just under 1/2". Weight is 19.4 grams. Nice patina to the silver, no dents or dings. An unusual vintage design ready to wear with others of its kind!

Coming from a prominent family of silver pioneers in Mexican silver production, Citlal followed in the footsteps of her mother, Tachi Castillo, in producing her own designs in jewelry. Citlal originally studied Fashion Merchandising in college but soon changed her direction to jewelry. Apprenticing with her uncles who kept a watchful eye over the young novice, Citlal found her own method of designing hot. Her early pieces are very much done in the fashion of her uncles while her newer pieces featured larger, mor colorful designs utilizing the colorful gemstones found in Mexican mines.
