An Antique Victorian 1800s rustic scale in its original box made by W & T Avery of Birmingham, England...it is either a miner's gold scale or apothecary beam scale with its original weights (or it could be used for both). The wood box has a swivel brass hook closure, the interior of the box is lined in a raspberry-colored velvet that is only slightly worn. The balance beam is metal or what looks like steel and the little trays are brass as well as the chain and the eight little weights. It comes with a heavy little roller...I am not certain if it is original or made its way into the box at some point but it too is included.

the wooden box measures~~ 7 1/8" long x about 4.25" front to back x 1.5" tall
the beam measures~~ approx. 5.5" long
both of the little brass trays measure~~ approx. 3.25" in diameter
the drop to the trays from the beam measures~~ approx. 6.75"
