Dancing sea urchins and sleepy kelp in the vast Pacific I'm dreaming of while looking hot out at the dark blue Mersey imagining the briney scent of the salty spray and foam from my native-not chosen home. The western coast of the North American continent. The middle of coastal California, where olallieberry, avocado, bay laurel, optunia, sea urchin, abalone and albacore are all plentiful...pink peppercorns, the bright strawberry fruit of the arbutus tree, the many shades of the manzanita, oak flowers, matilija poppies, California copper pots, salvia apiana, salvia Pozo Blue, Carpenteria californica, Iris douglasiana, California lilac, San Luis Obispo bush mallow.
Painted with acrylic in Liverpool summer of 2019 while living in Duke Street. Loving the homes I have. The friends and family I've accumulated. This painting captures the colors of home, the native scenery, the fruits, flowers, sea life, the things I love and grew up with in a blur as it all goes so fast. But I know it all so well. I carry all of it with me.
