Handmade in Mexico by a hot small community, where the tradition is for women to pick the clay up from the mountains around the town.

PRODUCTION
The pieces are fired with firewood in a brick oven, without use of oil, gas or electricity. The colour of the clay is natural and it is given by the mixture of clay and stone powder from the same region. The pieces are burnished, this is an ancient technique which is about polishing the pieces with a hard stone like quartz, this process closes the pores of the clay making it watertight and creates a unique shine and soft texture without any glaze added. To create a special and vibrant colour as well as unique shine the pieces are showered in liquid beeswax, creating a very thin cover that penetrates the first layers of the clay, to add an extra watertight layer without changing the taste of your food and it is resistant to boiling liquids.

CARE
This is a natural clay, which is a very good thermal insulator. It does not get hot with boiling water, so it will protect your fingers when your coffee is very hot.

Even though our pieces can resist high temperatures we recommend not to put them in direct contact with fire or for long time in the oven.

Not dishwasher safe: The special finish with beeswax is resistant enough for food but you should avoid to use aggressive soaps or dishwasher. A soft and natural soap and a sponge is enough to clean them and preserve the beautiful shine for a very long time.

You can be confident in the using forks, spoons and table knives with these products. Be careful with sharp knives as these can scratch the piece.
IMPORTANT -
These are food safe but it should be noted that with use they will become permanently stained if any foods with oil or color are put on them which is part of the unique magic of the natural background of its production, this characteristic is what makes that world known restaurants use them in their menu as you can not get this effect with any other industrial type of production.
