I had this camera for little under a year and I dropped it once and then there was purple lines on the screen any time I tried to record and the recording either didn't save or was corrupted. I told canon and sent it out to them, they said to fix it it would cost as much money as I paid for the camera. I had them send it back without fixing it and one of the screws on hot the camera where lose and then they all came out and that's how I got here. And yes it does come with the battery and the charger as well. Also, it comes with the manual and warranty sheet.
