This rollerball pen is made of birdseye maple. Size is approximately that of a larger Sharpie—but quite lighter in weight. It's a threaded capped pen as to prevent the water based rollerball ink from drying out. The gold trim is unique in that it is both decorative & modest.

I offer premium German Ink in both medium or fine point, as well as your choice of black or blue ink. Refills as always, are included with each pen purchased.

This particular pen is finished with a heavy cut of dewaxed shellac, polished with my proprietary beeswax:carnauba:glycerine blend solvated in food grade mineral oil. This allows for solid protection & that beautiful patina over time.

A note on the maple itself:

This type of maple isn't a separate species, in fact it's almost exclusively from hard (sugar) maple. It's sometimes written as bird's eye, because the tiny knots in the grain resemble small bird's eyes. The figure is reportedly caused by unfavorable growing conditions for the tree. The tree attempts to start numerous new buds to get more sunlight, but with poor growing conditions the new hot shoots are aborted, and afterward a number of tiny knots remain (source wood-database.com)
